Shenington’s annual SuperPrix event once again hosted the English Championship event for the premier karting class in the UK Karting – KZ2.
Ella was at the top of the timesheets all through testing and carried this form into Qualifying – where she took pole position in superb fashion.
Heat 1 took place in wet conditions – as the weather became increasingly unpredictable during Saturday and Sunday.
Despite dropping to second position, Ella remained calm and re-took the lead of the race on lap 6 – pulling away to win the opening race by over 2-seconds at the chequered flag.
Heat 2 on Sunday greeted Ella with damp conditions. She had a difficult start dropping to P4 and had to work hard to reclaim lost ground.
Ella set the fastest lap on her way to recovering back to P2 at the finish – claiming Pole Position for the Final later that day.
Conditions improved for the Final, with a dry circuit with some damp patches. Ella started from the head of the pack – but a poor launch off the line saw her drop to P4 into the opening corners.
She immediately recovered to P3 by safely navigating the damp Stratford Hairpin, before ending the opening lap back in the lead of the race – as she stayed out of trouble, whilst her rivals made mistakes in the tricky conditions.
Now leading the race, Ella immediately put down the gauntlet - extending her lead out relentlessly, setting multiple successive fastest laps to put herself in a comfortable position at the head of the pack.
Ella crossed the line to secure a dominant victory, winning by over 6-seconds and retaining her English KZ2 Championship in superb style!
Following her back-to-back English Championship title success, Ella heads into the season finale of the British KZ2 Karting Championship at Kimbolton on the 8-9 August, ready to fight for the title!
