Solid weekend for Ella at Larkhall Super One

Ella Stevens managed two solid top 15 finishes in the IAME Cadet Finals at Larkhall for the Super One Series.

The Super One Series headed to Larkhall in Scotland on the 12-13 May for the third round of the British IAME Cadet Championship, as a part of the Super One Series

Ella set the 17th fastest lap in Timed Qualifying, which is where she would start for the two racing heats that would follow on the Saturday.

She maintained her position at the start of the race, maintaining 17th in the incredibly tight field of karts around the Scottish Circuit. On lap 5 however, a robust move pushed her off the circuit, losing her time and positions as she rejoined in 22nd positions.

Ella came back well, getting her head down to move back through the field over the course of the remaining laps - taking a respectable 20th at the chequered flag despite the mid-race incident.

Heat two saw Ella drop initially back to 19th in the jostling throughout the opening lap. Soon enough she however moved back into 18th place - in a train of karts battling for 12th position, all separated by less than 0.3s from each other!

However with the pack so tight and the leader of the pack defending hard, Ella was unable to make further progress and finished in 18th at the end of her heats.

The first of the two finals took place on Sunday - with Ella starting from 17th position after the Qualifying Heat Classifications.
Ella made a great start to vault herself up into 15th position at the end of lap 1. She was then overtaken on the second lap and forced wide off the racing lead, losing a few positions down to 18th position.
The Power-A-Door female racer once again managed to bounce back, moving herself up to 16th position with three laps to go. As the drivers infront battled, Ella seized an opportunity to pass two of her rivals to finish the race in a solid 14th position at the chequered flag.

Ella started 14th for Final 2. A difficult first lap saw Ella dropped down to 18th position early on. She recovered three positions within the space of three laps to recover lost ground. Ella was now in a train of karts racing for 11th position and catching them in front - setting her fastest time of the weekend in the process with a 45.80s laptime.
She managed to move into 14th with a handful of laps to go, before defending by the kart in front baulked her progress, allowing the driver behind to retake the position.
Ella crossed the line in 15th place at the end of the Final, finishing as the third best placed Rookie and 2nd Privateer. A positive weekend for the youngster, as her times in Final 2 were fast enough for her to be competing in the top 9!

After the opening three rounds, Ella currently sits 20th overall in the hugely competitive championship - with four rounds still to go.
The next round of the championship takes place at Rowrah in Cumbria, on the 16-17 June.
